Why do acne scars appear?
In simple terms, then at the place of the acne some space is formed, gradually filled with connective tissue. Thus, the body takes care of its own integrity, completely not taking into account the aesthetic side of the issue. Dermatologists and cosmetologists identify several possible causes of scarring after acne:
- Mechanical extrusion of acne and / or blackheads. With this effect, the skin will be damaged, its healing can be delayed indefinitely, which provokes the formation of scars.
- Prolonged acne without proper treatment. It is accompanied by a violation of the sebaceous glands, clogging of pores with their secret, the spread of the inflammatory process. As a result, numerous abscesses are formed on the skin, which are a traumatic factor.
It is not necessary that scars will be formed only with a long course of acne or squeezing acne. Often, scars appear even with single rashes - it all depends on the type of skin, the general state of human health, the level of functionality of internal organs and systems.
In medicine, there are three types of scars after acne, which will “dictate” the scheme for solving the problem.
This is the most common type of scar that forms after acne. They look like fossae and tubercles, formed by connective tissue, which slightly increases at the site of deformation of the skin.
A distinctive feature of atrophic scars after acne is that they do not grow, do not change over the years (do not become deeper).
Connective tissue at the site of acne and blackheads grows excessively, which leads to the formation of quite bulky, convex scars. Often they differ in irregular shape and red or purple.
Keloid scars can grow not only in places of a specific location of acne / acne, but also capture healthy skin tissue, close to the focus of the pathology.
How to remove acne scars
The selection of the most suitable scar removal method depends on the shape, depth and location of the lesion.
Acne Scars, in fact, can be divided into two large types:
- hypertrophic scars: formed with excess connective tissue that remains elevated
- atrophic scars: formed when there is little connective tissue, and have the shape of a hollow.
