A closet is a bulky and fundamental thing that is necessary in every home. Often, purchased furniture is not suitable for the price, as intermediaries greatly overestimate prices, sometimes it does not match the size or design. In this case, you usually have to look for a small company, ready to fulfill a personal order. However, as practice shows, workshops request a lot of money. The most profitable solution in this situation is the independent manufacture of a cabinet at home.

Before you begin, you need to decide which cabinet is needed. Depending on the location, two main types are distinguished:

  • Embedded Models, the main advantage of which is the presence of a floor, ceiling and some walls. This condition significantly reduces the cost of the project. Such options are convenient, since they can be adjusted to any existing niche: recesses in the walls, under-stairwell. Oddly enough, this is a drawback of built-in models, since they are built for a specific place and changes are no longer implied. Among other things, the curvature of the bearing surfaces greatly affects the quality of the cabinets, so before you start the project, you need to align them.
  • Cabinet freestanding cabinets are a classic option. Models can be used in any type of room. Parsing and transfer from place to place is possible. In addition, curved walls, floors or ceilings will not affect installation. Among the shortcomings can be noted a large consumption of materials, compared with the built-in modifications, and the associated increased cost. However, with the proper selection of components, the cost can be reduced.
  • Partially embedded models are a cross between the first two options.

Schemes and drawings

The first priority is to decide where the cabinet will stand. Take into account the width, height, depth of the product, the location of the shelves and other design features. It is necessary to consider the purpose of the piece of furniture.

There are various types of cabinets:

For small rooms, the last two options are ideal. A freestanding cabinet is suitable for different rooms. It can be disassembled and moved to any place. Built-in wardrobes have a significant minus: attachment to one place.

Before drawing up the design plan, calculate the size of the product based on the parameters of the room. The drawing is made according to previously thought-out plans and schemes. You can use special computer programs.

On the layout display:

  • parameters, number and location of shelves,
  • drawer sizes
  • the depth and height of the shelves, the order of their placement,
  • dimensions of the bottom of the cabinet.

Materials and fittings

When choosing a chipboard, it is advisable to pay attention not only to the marking, but also to the manufacturer. Quality is considered the raw materials of German and Austrian manufacturers. There are two types of chipboard on sale: E1 and E2. The first option is the most eco friendly. Particle boards come in laminated or non-sanded surfaces.

Before sawing, you need to purchase accessories. It should be in the same style with the future product.

To perform work on the manufacture of a cabinet from chipboard, you will need:

  • wood screws
  • plastic caps for the color of the material,
  • guides
  • handles, hooks and other accessories.

To hide the roughness on the open elements of the product, you will need end furniture decorative tape.

Instruments

Before installation, you must once again check the correctness of the drawings and the availability of materials. To make a cabinet from chipboard at home, you need a whole set instruments:

  • Circular saw or electric jigsaw
  • drill on wood and drill,
  • screwdriver
  • Phillips and flat head screwdrivers
  • roulette,
  • screws and dowels,
  • hammer,
  • level,
  • hammer drill
  • Ruler and pencil,
  • hacksaw for wood and metal.

Before assembling the product, sawing of wood-shaving sheets is performed: according to the designed drawings, details are cut out. The blanks are laid out so that the longitudinal cuts are along the entire length.

An edge is glued to the ends of the prepared parts using an iron. His include on ¾ of maximum power, apply to the tape and spend on it several times. To edge pressed tightly, iron with a dry cloth.

How to make?

Work begins with the assembly of the product frame. Assemble the frame under the bottom. No legs are needed for the wardrobe. In other cases, plastic devices are used for adjustment. The assembly is carried out in a certain order:

  1. Using a drill, holes are prepared for the docking joints, observing their accuracy and symmetry. Consider holes for shelves, partitions, hangers.
  2. Connect the bottom, sides and top of the product using screws and a screwdriver. First, the lower part of the cabinet is laid and the side walls are fastened in turn. On the U-shaped structure, the upper partition is laid.
  3. The installation of supports for shelves, hooks, furniture drawers and other elements is carried out at the base of the cabinet. To check the correct installation, use a level. Opposite mounts should be horizontal.

At the final stage, the door mechanism is fixed. For sliding models, the guides are fixed below and above. For swing systems, the door hinges are screwed on the sides. At the end of the work, fittings are installed: hooks, crossbars, handles.

Dressing

Before implementing the plan for decorative decoration, you need to clearly decide on the style of the new piece of furniture, determine the way it is lined. There are several techniques for decorating cabinets from chipboard. Consider painting and pasting with a film.

The most reliable and capital method of finishing is painting. It is very simple to execute and inexpensive. Chipboards are treated with acrylic, alkyd, spray or ordinary paint on wood.

Reference. Acrylic spray paint lays on the surface better than normal. Treated surfaces are evenly stained and smooth.

Chipboard coloring is carried out in stages:

  1. Level and dedust a working surface.
  2. Degrease and apply a primer.
  3. Existing chips are filled with putty and rubbed.
  4. Apply one or two more primers.
  5. Paint the surface with the selected paint.

You can decorate the wardrobe under the stencil with bizarre multi-colored or plain patterns, symbols.

Methods of calculating materials for a wardrobe

Specify dimensions in millimeters

Y - cabinet height
X - width
Z - depth
C - height of the base part
W - thickness of cabinet material
V - material thickness of internal parts
F - distance for built-in wardrobe doors

P - number of vertical partitions
A - mezzanine shelf, over which sections is located
H - mezzanine shelf height

Specify the width of the cabinet sections.
The width of the last section of the cabinet is determined automatically.
Select the number of shelves in each section.
Specify the height of the shelves.
The distance from the floor to the last shelf is determined automatically.

G - show dimensions in the drawings
N - show the numbering of parts in the drawings

As a result, the program will calculate

total area of cabinet materials
total area of materials of shelves and partitions of the cabinet
back wall material area
will show the general view and drawings of the cabinet
number and location of mounting holes (except for the holes between the plinths and the cabinet floor)
