Can a rabbit become a friend of man?

When rabbits are connected, they form a very strong relationship. When this connection is broken due to the physical separation or death of one of the partners, I heard that they can die from loneliness. The risk is considered so significant at my local shelter that a couple has the same adoption fees as a single rabbit.

I saw rabbits that survived separation, and I heard of healthy rabbits that died within a few days after losing a partner.

I am looking for answers that include results from several broken links. Questions to answer:

  • Death a few days after the partner, when it is reasonable to assume that there was no medical or poisoning relationship.
  • If the second death was a subordinate or dominant bunny in a relationship (does one handle this better than the other?)
  • Any signs or symptoms that occur immediately after the second death, and how they differ from the first death.
  • Treatment tried to prevent death

Bonus points: the result of attempts to find a new partner for a live bunny.

The note. The scenario that I collected when interacting with several domestic rabbits is this: a live rabbit, having lost its partner, will become depressed and stop or reduce food intake for a couple of days, and then die. Very experienced rabbit people acknowledge this for emergency and force-feeding if required. The second death usually occurs in the first 3-10 days after the first. I also saw rabbits that were clearly upset by the loss that survived.

Stress can kill rabbits. When a rabbit is bound to another rabbit and this rabbit dies or is removed, it can cause stress on his assistant (and himself). (Source) This stress may be enough to cause several problems that, if left untreated, lead to death.

Many rabbits react differently to stress.

  • Unexpected molt. Usually rabbits molt at the beginning of winter and again at the beginning of summer. But sometimes a change of food or excessive consumption of certain foods can also cause molting (SOURCE)
  • Lethargy: An active rabbit suddenly stops playing or interacting. My only solution for this is to cuddle the way the rabbit wants, and try not to do anything that could cause the rabbit more stress.
  • Do not eat or drink: this is the most dangerous sign of stress. In a healthy rabbit, only a few days pass when they stop eating and drinking. When a rabbit eats food, I begin to pump food and liquids, giving them

5 cc Cm / lb plain yogurt and 1 cc. It was not 100% effective, but I believe that it saved some of my rabbits.

He had a dominant young woman and another submissive woman. They lived together for two years and were inseparable. The dominant female died very suddenly, so the next day I had a life-saving rabbit to support another company. I kept them separate, but in the same garden to introduce them gradually. New in a cage and original free work. The original seemed interested, but attacked a new one when presented. I parted them, and the next day the initial submissive became depressed, lost his appetite and died 2 days later. I am devastated. Lost both of my rabbits in 4 days.

We had six rabbits that accidentally got confused, and one had a litter. We shared them early and the four girls were together for 5 months. We have too much to take good care of them, and just gave two women. One of the remaining sisters stopped eating and talked. I tried to plant one of our older girls (first litter) with her - she looked after her and sat with her. However, this morning the little sister died. I donated - it was only three days ago when we were distributing others. : (I read on the Internet that this could happen, and I would like to ask her sisters to return.
